Evaluating Survivors of Torture & Other Human Rights Violations: Clinicians and Student Training

We are inviting you to participate in this year's training, Evaluating Survivors of Torture & Other Human Rights Violations: Clinicians and Student Training from 9:00 am – 12:00pm on Saturday, November 13th.

This training will equip you with the skills and materials needed to evaluate and document the physical and psychological sequelae of human rights abuses in survivors seeking humanitarian protection in the United States. Trained physicians and medical students will then work together to conduct forensic evaluations and draft medical affidavits, which are used to corroborate the applicant’s testimony and provide supporting evidence for the asylum case. It is expected that this session will serve to expand the current pool of trained evaluators in order to meet the growing need for this service in Michigan.

**A highlight of this year's training: All attendees will be trained to engage in the virtual evaluations process and affidavit writing!**

Date: 11/13/20

Time: 9am – 12pm

Location: Zoom. Zoom links will be sent out to everyone who registers. Registration closes on Thursday, November 11th at 11:59pm.

Attached are a flier with more information and a copy of the training schedule! Please feel free to email Nicole Hobson at nihobson@med.umich.edu with any questions! We hope you are able to attend.
